Christmas Cheer at Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network has decorated its December schedule with holiday premieres that will be telecast every as of Dec. 3, and ending with a two-day marathon of Christmas-themed shows, beginning at 7:00 am Dec. 24 and ending on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 2004, at 11:00 pm.

The network promises the rest of the month will be stuffed with enough Christmas cheer to power Santa's sleigh, with four additional premieres of new holiday specials and the best old and new classics, including of course, the granddaddy of Christmas cartoons, DR. SUESS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS.

Highlights of Cartoon Network's holiday programming schedule are as follows:

ED, EDD N EDDY'S JINGLE, JINGLE, JANGLE, Dec. 3 at 8:00 am.Eddy desperately seeks Christmas at a friends home after he snoops around and discovers that all his soon-to-be gifts are socks, underwear and other clunkers. Encore presentations: Dec. 15 at 8:00 pm, Dec. 22 at 9:00 am, Dec. 23 at 8:30 pm, Dec. 24 at 12:00 pm, Dec. 25 at 12:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

WHAT'S NEW SCOOBY DOO?: "HO! HO! HORRORS!", Dec. 17 at 9:00 pm.Scooby and the gang are back in an all-new adventure, spending the night in Winter Hollow, the snow-logged town terrorized by a headless snowman. The snowman, apparently the ghost of the robber Blackjack Brody, scares the townspeople on Christmas Eve, the night of his untimely death many years ago. The gang must uncover the mystery of the headless snowman in order to bring Christmas back to the town. Encore presentations: Dec. 24 at 11:00 am and 10:30 pm, Dec. 25 at 7:30 am and 10:00 pm.

TANGERINE BEAR, Dec. 18 at 3:00 pm. A star-studded cast (Tom Bosley, Jenna Elfman, David Hyde Pierce, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, Marlon Wayans, Howie Mandel) lends their vocal talent to this 90-minute feature. Tangerine Bear depicts the story of Tangie, a bear with an upside-down smile, finding acceptance in a group of rag-tag toys in a thrift store. Encore presentations: Dec. 20 at 10:00 am and Dec. 24 at 8:30 am and 8:00 pm.

NINE DOG CHRISTMAS, Dec. 19 at 3:00 pm.James Earl Jones and Scott Hamilton lend their vocal talents in this 90-minute feature that tells the story of Santa's sled and reindeer being replaced by nine scruffy dogs tied to a beat-up old wagon. Encore presentations Dec. 23 at 10:30 am, Dec. 24 at 2:00 pm and 11:00 pm, and Dec. 25 at 10:00 am.

JINGLE BELL CHRISTMAS, Dec. 19 at 4:30 pmThrough a magical sleigh ride, a poor family realizes that gifts are special not because of their price but because they come from the heart. Encore presentations: Dec. 24 at 11:30 am and 10:00 pm, Dec. 25 at 7:00 am and 1:00 pm.

THE CHRISTMAS DINOSAUR, Dec. 20 at 9:00 amThis one-hour holiday adventure starts with Jason, a boy who is disappointed when he gets an egg for Christmas. Then it hatches into a pterosaur dinosaur. With the help of his brother Tommy, Jason must reunite his new friend, Spot the dinosaur, with its parents before his own parents find out. Encore presentations: Dec. 22 at 10 am, Dec. 24 at 1:00 pm, Dec. 25 at 7:00 pm.

NOEL NOEL Dec. 24 at 10:30 am.Leslie Nielson narrates the story of a billionaire by the name of Noel Noel who tries to buy the love of Beatrice the fairy, but, instead, finds that perhaps there is more to love than green-backs. Encore presentations: Dec. 24 at 9:30 pm, Dec. 25 at 9:30 am and 6:00 pm.

Aside from all of In addition to new holiday specials, CN is also offering a smorgasbord of favorite animated Christmas specials, including favorites starring the Flintstones, the Smurfs, the Powerpuff Girls and Johnny Bravo.

DR. SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS, Dec. 3 at 9:00 pm. Disguised as Santa Claus, the Grinch, along with his loveable dog, Max, steals everything that has to do with Christmas from the town of Whoville. However, he finds that he cannot steal the one thing that makes Christmas special: love for one's fellow man. The Grinch learns the meaning of Christmas, returning all of the stolen goods back to the Whos and joining in their celebration. Encore presentations: Dec. 13 at 8:00 pm, Dec. 18 at 4:30 pm, Dec. 23 at 10:00 am and 8:00 pm, Dec. 24 at 10:00 am and 12:30 am, and Dec. 25 at 6:30 pm and 10:30 pm.

OLIVE THE OTHER REINDEER, Dec. 10 at 8:00 pm.Olive the dog travels to the North Pole to help Santa Claus when one of his reindeer breaks a leg. Olive the Other Reindeer, a one-hour feature, was created by Matt Groening, creator of THE SIMPSONS, and the role of Olive is voiced by Drew Barrymore. Encore presentations: Dec. 14 at 8:00 pm, Dec. 18 at 5:00 pm, Dec. 22 at 8:00 pm, and Dec. 25 at 8:00 pm and 5:00 pm.

GRANDMA GOT RUN OVER BY A REINDEER, Dec. 10 at 9:00 pm.This holiday story expands on the song of the same name, Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. Grandma and her little general store are in danger of being bought out by developers in the town of Cityville. While Grandma tries to save her store, her grandson, Jake, attempts to save his belief in Santa Claus and the Christmas spirit. A JOHNNY BRAVO CHRISTMAS, Dec. 13 at 8:30 pm.Johnny Bravo goes on an insane sleigh ride to deliver his Christmas wish list to Santa. On the way, he teams up with Donny Osmond. Encore presentations: Dec. 21 at 8:30 pm and Dec. 25 at 3 pm

MR. MAGOO'S CHRISTMAS CAROL, Dec. 16 at 8:00 pm. This animated special marks a merry marriage between one of the screen's greatest cartoon characters, Mr. Magoo, and the heart-warming holiday classic, A Christmas Carol. Jim Backus (Gilligan's Island) lends his unmistakable voice to the lovably near-sighted Magoo, who stars in a Broadway version of the Charles Dickens tale, impeccably cast as Ebenezer Scrooge. Encore presentations: Dec. 24 at 5:30 pm; Dec. 25 at 3:30 pm.

THE POWERPUFF GIRLS: "'Twas the Fight Before Christmas," Dec. 17 at 8:00 pmIn this one-hour feature, Princess, Townsville's most evil little brat, tries to trick Santa into fulfilling her Christmas wish (making her the fourth Powerpuff Girl) by switching Santa's good and bad list. If she succeeds, all the good kids could get Santa's cold shoulder. The Powerpuff Girls must head to the North Pole to fight in a furious flurry to fix the folly. Encore presentations: Dec. 24 at 7:00 pm, Dec. 25 at 2:00 pm.

CASPER'S FIRST CHRISTMAS, Dec. 20 at 11:30 am.Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, Boo Boo, and other ghosts of Saturday mornings past join Casper and Hairy, a less friendly ghost, on Christmas Eve. Casper's desire to have a real Christmas plays against Hairy's plan to scare the dickens out of everybody. Luckily, Santa rides in to sort it out for the hapless 'toons. Encore presentations: Dec. 20 11:30 am, Dec. 23 at 9:30 am, Dec. 24 at 2:00 am.

YOGI'S FIRST CHRISTMAS, Dec. 21 at 10:00 am. All is fun and festive at the Jellystone Park Christmas party until Herman, the hermit, and Snively, the lodge owner's nephew, try to suck the joy out of the holiday. It is up to Yogi and Boo Boo to trick the party-poopers and keep the Yule log burning. This two-hour cartoon extravaganza features five musical segments. Encore presentation: Dec. 24 at 3:00 am.

THE SMURFS CHRISTMAS SPECIAL, Dec. 23 at 9:00 am.The evil Gargamel teams up with a mysterious stranger to destroy the Smurfs, two children and their grandfather. All seems lost until the Smurfs unite to counteract the stranger's evil magic with the power of a Christmas carol. Encore presentations: Dec. 24 at 3:30 pm, Dec. 25 at 6:00 am.
