Christian Ministry Focus On The Family Enters The Mainstream Video Market

Hollywood-based producer and distributor C Cubed Entertainment has acquired distribution rights for ADVENTURES IN ODYSSEY, an animated series from Christian radio ministry Focus on the Family. C Cubed will distribute the made-for-video series, based on the radio program of the same name, to all non-religious television and home entertainment entities worldwide. Although this distribution agreement marks Focus' first entry into the mainstream entertainment arena, ADVENTURES IN ODYSSEY is one of the Christian broadcaster's most successful franchises. It has been in worldwide radio syndication for over 15 years, broadcasting daily on six thousand stations worldwide. The home video series is currently distributed in religious bookstores, and has spawned a collection of related merchandise, including books, puzzles, toys and apparel. Mentioning that the series is accessible to all denominations, Richard Caleel, CEO of C Cubed, called ADVENTURES IN ODYSSEY "a truly entertaining, spiritual, but not specifically religious, animated series." ADVENTURES IN ODYSSEY features ten year-old Dylan and his 60 year-old friend and mentor, Whit, who experience and participate in historical events through the use of the "Imagination Stations" Whit has designed. The series, which consists of 26 half-hours, was introduced to international broadcasters at this year's MIP TV. The first 15 episodes are currently available, with co-producers Aniway Co., Ltd. in production on episodes 16-26. Focus on the Family has announced the company has committed US$1.3 million toward the production of new episodes. Together with C Cubed they have also lined up fast food company Chick-Fil-A to distribute 3 million CD-ROM's with clips of the animation and audio from the radio show through more than 1000 Chick-Fil-A outlets between the East Coast and Utah. Focus retains faith-based distribution of the series in the United States and Canada.
