Director Robert Zemeckis and L.A. CONFIDENTIAL writer Brian Helgeland are sailing to the history/fantasy mash-up HERE THERE BE MONSTERS, reports The Wrap. Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have tapped Helgeland to write the script for a story that takes the seafaring adventures of Revolutionary War naval hero John Paul Jones and combines them with sea monsters. Legendary Pictures CEO Thomas Tull devised the idea.

Tull will produce with Legendary's Jon Jashni and Mandeville's Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman.
