Sixty40 Bring Humor & Wit to Foxtel’s Commonwealth Games

Sydney, Australia – Fresh from four international award wins at Promax for ‘The (very) short guide to Winter Olympics’, the creative genius of Sydney design and animation company Sixty40 have now transformed the Commonwealth Games into bite-sized chunks of ‘edupromotainment’ for FOXTEL viewers across the nation.
Six 60 sec spots will air from Monday 13 September to Monday 4 October across Foxtel including, FOX8 Animation Domination and The Comedy Channel. They will also feature on Foxtel’s website (Foxtel.com.au/delhi2010)/ youtube (youtube.com/followthegames) and facebook (facebook.com/followthegames) pages.
Co-written by Chaser founder Charles Firth and narrated by Triple M’s Gus Worland, and using the same, award-winning folksy 2D animation style, the series of cheeky and witty TV interstitials dissect some of the most iconic sports of the Commonwealth Games, including swimming, pole vaulting and cycling.
Whether it’s tempting comeback king, swimmer Geoff Huegill with a juicy hamburger, or drawing the tenuous link between our nation’s love of beer and bars to Steve Hookers natural pole vaulting prowess, the satirical shorts are fast paced, funny and are layered with enough animated idiosyncrasies and gags to stand up to repeated viewings.
“The brief was to give Australians a bunch of new facts about events they thought they knew, such as swimming and cycling, and to give them a hero to cheer for when the starter’s gun went off. The Commonwealth Games series talks viewers through the rules and historical origins of each sport, proudly prioritising fiction over fact for the viewing pleasure of all.” said Sixty40’s animation director, Matt Taylor.
