Alex Proyas is to helm Legendary Pictures' adaptation of John Milton's PARADISE LOST, reports Variety. Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Vincent Newman are producing.

The epic poem follows the heavenly war between archangels Michael and Lucifer. Byron Willinger and Philip de Blasi penned the original script with a significant rewrite by Stuart Hazeldine. Lawrence Kasdan and Ryan Condal provided polishes.

Legendary has a co-production and co-financing deal with Warner Bros.
