Thomas Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer (CONAN) have been hired to write the script to DR. STRANGE for Marvel Studios, reports Deadline.com. Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko created the character in 1963. A selfish surgeon loses his sense of touch, which spirals his life out of control until he ends up in the Himalayas where he learns to tap into psychic powers.

DR. STRANGE has been in development at various studios including Savoy Pictures, Columbia Pictures, Dimension Films and Paramount. The big names that had been attached at one point or another include Bob Gale, Wes Craven, David Goyer, Stephen Norrington and Guillermo del Toro.

Donnelly and Oppenheimer also have written Sony's adaptation of the videogame UNCHARTED: DRAKE'S FORTUNE and DreamWorks and Universal's COWBOYS AND ALIENS.
