Following its Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects, Industrial Light & Magic has unleashed a “Behind the Magic” featurette for Joss Whedon's superhero extravaganza Marvel's The Avengers.

The new behind-the-scenes video offers an inside look at some of the most memorable scenes from the film, with ILM's Visual Effects Supervisor Jeff White, Associate VFX Supervisor Jason Smith, and other key crew members providing a behind-the-scenes look at the CG creature effects work done on the film. Also included at the beginning and end of the video is a stop-motion animation segment created by Erik Dillinger. Watch the video, below:

Directed by Joss Whedon, Marvel's The Avengers was released May 4th, 2012, and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston and Clark Gregg.
