Warner Bros. has paid seven figures for the rights to David Goyer and Michael Cassutt's sci-fi book series, which starts with the novel HEAVEN'S SHADOW, reports Deadline.com. Goyer will produce via his Phantom Four.

The first story follows an international contest to reach a presumed breakaway meteor. As a result, humanity becomes threatened by aliens.

Ace Books will release the first tome in July 2011 with HEAVEN’S WAR and HEAVEN’S FALL to follow.
