Deadline.com reports that MGM and Michael Hirst, the creator of THE TUDORS and CAMELOT, are working on the new TV series, VIKINGS. Hirst devised the series with Morgan O'Sullivan, Sherry Marsh and Alan Gasmer. The first season is set for 10 episodes. Hirst, a history buff, is penning the bible and will most likely write many, if not all, the episodes.

The series will follow Ragnar Lodbrok, the Viking warrior who ruled Denmark and Sweden. The story will chronicle his affairs with two shieldmaidens and a queen.
