Warner Bros. has tapped Ben Affleck to direct their feature version of Stephen King’s THE STAND, reports Deadline.com. Vertigo Pictures will produce.

The epic tale follows the survivors of a super flu that wiped most of humanity off Earth. Two camps on the side of good and evil are pitted against each other. The story was previously made into a TV miniseries by director Mick Garris.

Previously, HARRY POTTER director David Yates and writer Steve Kloves had been attached to adapt the epic tale.
