Dan Castellaneta will be awarded this year's Primetime Emmy Award for animation voice over performance for his work on THE SIMPSONS as the dysfunctional family patriarch, Homer, Homer, as well as Krusty the Clown, Grampa Simpson, Groundskeeper Willie, Barney Gumble and Mel.
The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced on Aug. 11, 2004, the selected animation categories winners of the 56th annual Primetime Emmy Awards. Juried awards do not have nominations and are selected by members of ATAS' animation peer group, which may choose more than one winner in a category or none.
Castellaneta earned his latest Emmy for his work in the "Today I Am a Clown." episode of the long-running FOX comedy, animated by DPS/Film Roman for producers Gracie Films and Fox Television. Castellaneta has already won twice in the voice over category in 1992 and 1993.
ATAS will hand out an individual achievement in animation award to MY LIFE AS A TEENAGE ROBOT background stylist Seonna Hong for her work on Nickelodeon cartoon's episode "The Wonderful World of Wizzley," produced by Frederator Studios and Nickelodeon Animation Studios.
Awards for the majority of animation and visual effects categories will be presented on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, in a non-televised ceremony, co-chaired by Michael Hoey and John Moffitt and produced by Spike Jones Jr. The main program categories and honors for acting and writing will be handed out during the telecast at the Shrine September 19 on ABC.
