Casper The Friendly Ghost Celebrates 60 Years In 2009

2009 marks the 60th anniversary of CASPER THE FRIENDLY GHOST and Classic Media, an Entertainment Rights group company, is gearing up for the big celebration with the launch of an expanded licensing program for The Official Ambassador of Halloween. CASPER products across key categories, including apparel, DVDs, music, digital content, games and social expressions will begin to roll out to retail in time for Halloween.

Anniversary partners include new apparel licensees Local Celebrity, Mad Engine, Briefly Stated as well as Madacy (music), and renewed deals with American Greetings (social expressions) and MJC (men's loungewear). An all-new CG Casper television series is also currently in production and slated for premiere in more than 60 territories next year, timed to his 60th celebration. To get ready for his anniversary close-up, CASPER is getting a fresh new look and all-new style guide.

To boo, or not to boo? This Halloween, Classic Media and Genius Products answer this haunting question with the release of the first two volumes in the all-new Casper DVD collection -- CASPER: TRICK-OR-TREAT CLASSIC COLLECTION VOLUME 1 and CASPER & WENDY: SCARE UP SOME FUN CLASSIC COLLECTION VOLUME 2. The spooktacular DVD compilations are themed by title and each contains 12 classic CASPER cartoons.

No tricks, just treats with new CASPER apparel lines beginning to roll out to retail for Halloween. Current licensees MJC (men's loungewear) and Logotel (T-shirts) have renewed their deals with Classic Media and will expand their popular lines at mass market and chain drug retailers. New high end apparel licensees Local Celebrity (juniors) and Mad Engine (men's and boys') will debut their collections of printed tees and tops at fine department stores and specialty stores and boutiques. For the 2009 anniversary, the apparel program will continue to be refreshed with all new CASPER-inspired juniors loungewear, daywear and sleepwear from Briefly Stated.

American Greetings popular line of CASPER-themed cards, gift wrap and accessories will be available this Halloween with all new designs. Mello Smello will expand its CASPER product offerings with new novelty items, including stickers, temporary tattoos and wall decor.

With new partner Madacy Entertainment, spooky Halloween songs and sounds inspired by CASPER will come your way third quarter this year; with something for everyone in the family.

Compedia has developed a line of CD-Rom games where kids can play and discover mysteries along with CASPER. Developed in cooperation with top educators, the games nurture the confidence and critical thinking skills children need for success. Multiple levels of play enable each child to advance at his or her own pace. Available in more than 31 countries and in 14 languages, the product debuts in North America later this year.

In advance of his 60th anniversary, "the friendliest ghost you know" has gone digital and is making plenty of new 21st century friends in the process. CASPER mobile content is now currently available through MobiTV and the classic cartoons recently launched on several online video sites, including YouTube, Joost and Babelgum.

The spooktacular star of both the big and little screen is flying back to TV in 2009 for his anniversary celebration. The brand new CASPER SCARE SCHOOL CG television series is currently in production. The series is being co-produced by Classic Media, MoonScoop SAS and DQ Ent. To date, the new series has been sold to more than 60 territories worldwide. Key broadcast partners include TF1 (France), Cartoon Network (U.K., Asia, Latin America), YTV (Canada) and Jetix (Europe).
