During Sunday’s season finale of The Simpsons, Fox announced a series of animated shorts featuring America’s favorite animated family, the first of which will debut ahead of Ice Age: Continental Drift opening in theaters on July 13, 2012.

The first stand-alone 3D animated theatrical short, The Longest Daycare, stars Maggie, the youngest member of the Simpsons family, who in one episode had the distinction of being voiced by the late Elizabeth Taylor. The short is directed by David Silverman, who also directed The Simpsons Movie as well as numerous episodes of the long-running series, and enters on Maggie going back to the Ayn Rand School for Tots.
