Neptuno Signs Deals for 'Rupert and Sam'

Spain’s Neptuno Films has signed a raft of deals for “Rupert and Sam,” a co-production with TV3 (Televisió de Catalunya), IB3 and 3D Videographics.

Barcelona, Spain --

Neptuno Films has signed a raft of deals for Rupert and Sam, a co-production with TV3 (Televisió de Catalunya), IB3 and 3D Videographics. The series has been acquired by broadcasters in Turkey, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, the Middle East (for broadcast and video), as well as Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Slovenia.

The 26x3’ 3D animation, which turns around the adventures of crash-landed eternal optimists Rupert and Sam, who are so lost they do not even know which ocean they crashed into, is also the subject of negotiations with a host of other broadcasters.

“Heading into the holiday period this is fantastic news for both Neptuno Films and our production partners,” Cristina Brandner, Managing Director, Neptuno Films, said. “We all have huge faith in the series, and that belief is being repaid handsomely by broadcaster’s enthusiasm to have these two engaging and adorable characters in their schedules. I am confident that we will be announcing several more significant deals in the lead-up to MIPCOM, and that Rupert and Sam will also be a star attraction for buyers at the event in October.”

Neptuno Films was established in 1991 in Terrassa (Barcelona) and soon became a driving force in the world animation production landscape. In the past few years, Neptuno has gone through a steady growth with the build-up of a library of universal animated characters with worldwide appeal, especially such animated brands as Connie the Cow or Dougie in Disguise. The company currently constitutes one of the largest fully-fledged studios in Europe with a distribution arm which manages the tv, video and merchandising rights portfolio.
