Cartoon Network and LucasArts will transport viewers into another dimension this October with Cartoon Network 3-D Halloween. The special presentation, to be aired Oct. 12 as part of the Friday Fried Dynamite block, will feature the popular series OUT OF JIMMY'S HEAD and FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS. In addition to these special 3-D episodes, viewers can also get a 3-D sneak peek at the LucasArts video game THRILLVILLE: OFF THE RAILS, where players create and experience the theme park of their dreams. The video game will be integrated into the campaign promoting the special night of programming, including on-air and online promotional elements.
3-D Halloween kicks off at 7:00 pm (ET/PT) with a new episode of OUT OF JIMMY'S HEAD called "Ghost," in which Jimmy sees a ghost in the classroom attic. His best friend Craig sees this as an opportunity to cash in on Jimmy's "ghost spotting" abilities and creates a pricey and spooky seminar. At 7:30 pm (ET/PT), in the haunting Halloween 3-D episode of FOSTER'S HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS, "Nightmare on Wilson Way," Bloo's ultimate Halloween trick goes horribly awry when his friends are turned into zombies.
DDD Group plc, a 3-D software and content company, was responsible for converting the series episodes and THRILLVILLE material to 3-D with their TriDef Media Creator that combines real-time 3-D depth recovery with the ability to edit the resulting 3-D scene. This allowed DDD to quickly process the scenes as they were delivered by Cartoon Network's animation studios while still providing the flexibility to change the 3-D effect in each scene prior to approval. The productivity made possible by TriDef Media Creator allows an entire 20-minute television episode to be reprocessed to 3-D in just four weeks.
To promote THRILLVILLE: OFF THE RAILS, Cartoon Network will create a custom teaser spot driving tune-in, as well as feature the video game's branding on 3-D glasses. CartoonNetwork.com will also create a custom micro-site featuring a game demo, special game tips and tricks and additional information for visitors. FriedDynamite.com will also host a game review of THRILLVILLE: OFF THE RAILS. Viewers can go to CartoonNetwork.com for information on how to receive free 3-D glasses.
THRILLVILLE: OFF THE RAILS launches October 16 for the Xbox 360, Wii, PlayStation2, PSP, Games for Windows and, with the help of developer DC Studios, Nintendo DS.
