Cartoon Network Picks Mattel for Secret Saturdays

Cartoon Network Enterprises has partnered with Mattel as the global master toy licensee for its fantasy-adventure original series, THE SECRET SATURDAYS.

Through the partnership, Mattel will manufacture, market and sell a wide range of toys inspired by the new series, including action figures, playsets, role-play items, and more. THE SECRET SATURDAYS television series debuted on Cartoon Network this October as a part of the network's Friday night fantasy/adventure programming block, and the new product line is expected to be available at mass retailers nationwide for fall 2009. This newest Cartoon Network original series is a character-rich and content-driven series that follows a family of world-saving cryptozoologists on their plight to discover cryptids and protect against all the underlying evil in the world.

In THE SECRET SATURDAYS television series, Doc, Drew and Zak Saturday are a family of world-saving adventure scientists called The Secret Saturdays. To the Saturdays, who are part of a network of scientists charged with protecting the world, ordinary folk-tales aren't just legends, but real-life mysteries and adventures. Traveling from the Gobi Desert to the Marianas Trench, they explore ancient temples and bottomless caves and tangle with twisted villains, including the masked madman V.V. Argost and his half-human/half-giant spider assistant, Munya. But aside from the adventures that span the globe, at the end of the day the Saturdays, along with their cryptid pets Fiskerton, Komodo and Zon, are just a warm, loving family getting through everyday growing pains and squabbles.

THE SECRET SATURDAYS, from creator Jay Stephens and producer Fred Schaefer, is produced at Porchlight Ent. in Los Angeles, California. New episodes air on Friday nights at 8:30 pm ET/PT as the lead-in to STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS.
