Cartoon Network Latin America Wins Two FIAP Animation Awards

Cartoon Network Latin America won a silver and bronze award in the animation category at the 2001 Festival Iberoamericano de Agencias de Publicidad (FIAP). Selected from more than 5,000 entries from Latin America, Spain and Portugal, this year's FIAP winners were announced on May 11, 2001 at the awards ceremony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. AQUAMAN, a promotional spot for Votatoon, received the silver award, and FRED, a spot promoting the Cartoon Network Websites CartoonNetworkLA.com, CartoonNetwork.com.br and CartoonNetwork.com.mx, earned the bronze. The on-air promos were directed by Argentine Fernando Semenzato and produced by Damon Pittman and Craig Adams. Cartoon Network Latin America also secured four promos as finalists for Promax & BDA. This award is known globally as the highest distinction given to professionals in marketing and promotions in the field of electronic media. Cartoon Networks four finalists are: Best Children's Promo: CAPTAIN PLANET'S NATURE REVENGE, Hernan La Greca (writer/producer); Something for Nothing: TAZ TORNADO, Hernan La Greca (writer/producer); Best Stunt: GARFIELD CARNAVAL, Damon Pittman (creative manager) and Manoela Muraro (associate producer); and Best Children's Promo: DEXTER BAND-AID, Damon Pittman (creative manager) and Manoela Muraro (associate producer). This year's Promax & BDA award winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in Miami, Florida on June 22, 2001. Cartoon Network Latin America is Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.'s 24-hour animated entertainment channel. It is available in Spanish, Portuguese and English.
