Cartoon Network announced that it has completed principal photography on its first-ever original live-action television movie, RE-ANIMATED, which will combine elements of live-action and animation. The project was announced in March at Cartoon Networks upfront presentation and is in post-production with a premiere date yet to be determined.
When we decided to venture into the territory of live action we knew it was going to have to be an event like nothing weve ever done before, said Michael Ouweleen, svp, programming and development for Cartoon Network. And even though we are featuring live-action characters, it still had to be done the Cartoon Network way. RE-ANIMATED has proven to be that kind of project.
Dominic Janes (TVs ER) stars as 12-year-old Jimmy Roberts, who while visiting the famous Gollyworld Park, has an accident with the park trolley that requires an emergency brain transplant. Gollyworld doctors give him the frozen brain of the famous cartoonist Milt Appleday (Fred Willard, BEST IN SHOW), which enables Jimmy to see a whole world of cartoon characters who turn his life upside down wherever he goes.
Also joining the cast are Micah Karns as Craig, Jimmys best friend; Eunice Cho as Robin, Jimmys crush; and Matt Knudsen as Sonny, Milt Appledays evil son whos trying to steal his fathers brain from Jimmy. Rounding out the cast are Bil Dwyer as the Dad, Rachel Quaintance as the Mom and Rhea Lando as Yancy, Jimmys alien stepsister.
Actors Paul Reubens, Tom Kenny, Ellen Greene and Brian Posehn lend their voices to the Appleday cartoon characters that come to life only for Jimmy.
RE-ANIMATED is created and written by Adam Pava and Tim McKeon, who were writers on Cartoon Networks hit series FOSTERS HOME FOR IMAGINARY FRIENDS and THE LIFE & TIMES OF JUNIPER LEE. The film is directed by New York-based filmmaker Bruce Hurwit.
