Cartoon Network Announces Sponsors for Get Animated

Press Release from Cartoon Network

Cartoon Network, along with local cable affiliates, is coming together with Crayola, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and SUBWAY to promote healthy living choices through the network's national GET ANIMATED tour. Now in its fifth year, this 40-city tour is designed to motivate, energize and educate kids ages 6-14 about healthy living choices by using the power of Cartoon Network's shows, characters and brands. The tour will run all summer-long and feature interactive areas designed around different Cartoon Network series and customized to communicate each sponsor's branded message.

At each stop of the GET ANIMATED Tour, kids will have the opportunity to engage in physical activities that promote the message of staying active and making smart nutritional choices. Activities will include a climbing wall, soccer challenge, bicycle race, filming station capturing games created by kids using the red rubber playground ball; Crayola arts and crafts activities featuring Crayola Color Explosion, Color Surge and 3D Chalk; interactive HOPSports program and basketball drills. All activities will be themed around Cartoon Network's line-up of shows including BEN 10: ALIEN FORCE, CHOWDER, THE MARVELOUS MISADVENTURES OF FLAPJACK, THE SECRET SATURDAYS and TOTAL DRAMA ACTION. The GET ANIMATED Tour will make 40 stops across the United States from May 23 - Sept. 9, 2009.

New to the tour this year, Crayola will integrate their brand on-site and across Cartoon Network on-air promotion driving awareness for GET ANIMATED and the importance of outdoor creative play for kids. Cartoon Network is creating a custom on-air spot that features kids using the featured products Crayola 3D Sidewalk Chalk, Color Explosion Extreme and Color Surge. All of the products will also be available throughout the tour for kids to create with, while visiting the Crayola "Everything Imaginable" tent featuring three different Crayola activity stations. This summer, Crayola is asking families to take the Crayola Outdoor Challenge at Crayola.com and commit more time to playing outdoors. Their goal is to reach 1 million hours of total play time. A visit to the GET ANIMATED tour is a fun and healthy way that families can spend more time having fun outdoors this summer. Families will be able to take their completed activities home with them, along with Crayola coupons and a Cartoon Network stencil.

Cartoon Network and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will present a new activity based on their SPOT THE BLOCK campaign, an on-air and online public education effort now in its third year that encourages kids to use the Nutrition Facts Label on food packages to make healthier food choices. SPOT THE BLOCK on the GET ANIMATED Tour will feature an activity that mirrors the online game found at www.spottheblock.com. Kids will toss over-sized "nutrition label" dice and compare the two face-up labels for a prize, while learning to understand the nutrition facts label on food packaging more effectively. Cartoon Network will also feature two new SPOT THE BLOCK on-air promotional spots this year featuring nutritional tips from Chowder, the popular Cartoon Network character who dreams of becoming a great chef someday.

SUBWAY is also joining in on the fun this summer through both Cartoon Network on-air and on-site promotion supporting GET ANIMATED. At each stop of the tour, kids will have the opportunity to compete on stationary bikes with a video game to beat a countdown clock. The SUBWAY activity area will be co-branded with popular characters from the popular Cartoon Network series BEN 10: ALIEN FORCE. Cartoon Network will also feature customized on-air spots presented by SUBWAY.

Launched in February 2005, Cartoon Network's GET ANIMATED provides on-air, online, print and off-channel programs to teach children the value of a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise, good eating and helping others.
