Cartoon Movie 2003: European Animation Feature Films

The 5th edition of Cartoon Movie will be held March 13-15, 2003, in Potsdam, Germany. Organized by the European Association Cartoon in collaboration with NFP Teleart in Germany and with the support of the Media Programme of the European Union and Berlin-Brandenburg Filmboard, Cartoon Movie offers attending investors, producers and distributors a complete overview of European animation feature films at different stages of production. Along with original concepts, projects in development and films in production, Cartoon Movie will screen recently completed animated features including the first animated feature from Poland to be presented at Cartoon, Studio Miniatur Filmowych's MR. BLOTTS TRIUMPH. According to a recent survey written by Tim Westcott and published by CARTOON, 182 full-length animated films were produced and released in Europe between 1926 and 2001. Some 56 were released between 1997 and 2001 alone; another 34 films are currently in production or about to be released. Animated feature films are proving to be big business in France, with seven to be released this year, including Xilam's highly anticipated CG-animated feature KAENA: THE PROPHECY. Last year, Cartoon Movie set a new record for attendance, with over 450 participants. This year, 47 films will be presented to the participating production companies and investors. During the conference, Cartoon will also present the Cartoon Movie Tributes, rewarding outstanding European strategies, companies or personalities that have had a positive and dynamic influence on the European animation feature film industry.
