Cartoon D'or 2001 Nominees Announced

The five nominees for the coveted Cartoon d'Or Prize have been announced. Florence Miailhe's AU PREMIER DIMANCHE D'AOÛT (France); Thomas Stellmach's CHICKEN KIEV (Germany); Michael Dudok de Wit's Oscar winning film, FATHER AND DAUGHTER (Netherlands/U.K.); Trylle Vilstrup's LOVEBIRDS; and Andreas Hykade's RING OF FIRE (Germany). The winner will be announced during the Cartoon Forum's closing event on September 22. The five European short films competing for the 2001 Cartoon d'Or, have all been selected from a list of films awarded by the leading European animation festivals, all partners of CARTOON: Annecy, Bristol, Bruxelles, Espinho, Fredrikstad, Genzano di Roma and Utrecht. With this prize, the recipient obtains pre-production aid to begin a more ambitious project like a feature film or a TV special. Previous winners have included Nick Park's CREATURES COMFORTS and THE WRONG TROUSERS, Michael Dudok de Wit's THE MONK AND THE FISH and last year's winner José Miguel Ribeiro's A SUSPEITA.
