Canada Tops Cartoons On The Bay Winners

Cartoons on the Bay, the 8th festival of television animation organized by Rai Trade, culminated in Positano, Italy with the Pulcinella Awards on April 25, 2004. Canada led the awards with three.

The International Jury of the 8th Pulcinella Awards International TV Cartoons Competition, was comprised of Linda Simensky, senior director of children's programs for PBS, U.S.; Natalie Altmann, director of children's programs for M6, France; Shelley Page, European delegate for DreamWorks Animation, U.K.; Dennis De Visscher, head of children's program acquisitions for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corp. (NRK), Norway; and Lucia Bolzoni, producer for Rai Fiction, Italy. For five days, they viewed 35 programs from 10 different countries at the Festival promoted by RAI, conceived and organized by Rai Trade. For more information please go to www.cartoonsbay.com.

On the stage of the Cartoons Village, set up on the beach of Positano, the singer Tullio De Piscopo performed his song "Pummarola Blues" for the first time in public at the ending ceremony. Models treated viewers to a catwalk display of sartorial creations of three important stylists: Egon von Furstenberg, Laura Pieralisi and Gattinoni. Comedians Dario Bandiera and Dario Vergassola entertained the audience while Fabrizio Rocca and Maurizio Aiello conducted the show.
