Calon has sold BIG TATTIE, its first animated series for mobile media, to leading mobile distributor, Player X. Additionally, S4C has commissioned Calon to make 20 shorts of a BIG TATTIE for its Rugby World Cup coverage.
The BIG TATTIE series of 35x30-second downloads features humorous keep fit tips for couch potatoes designed to appeal to todayâs youth. It will be available from Player X through its made-for-mobile GeekTV channel. BIG TATTIE will also appear as comic inserts during the S4C TV coverage of the Rugby World Cup in September and October. The 20x30-second brand new episodes will be broadcast and appear online, reflecting the games as the tournament progresses.
Player X has a strong presence in the mobile games, TV and video market with partnerships, including Universal Mobile Ent., SkyTV, EMI Music and many others. The company operates in all five continents, bringing some of the biggest entertainment brands to a potential audience of 1.8 billion people via 140 direct distribution channels.
âWeâre always on the look-out for quality content for our mobile TV channels and BIG TATTIE fits perfectly with GeekTVâs demographic," said Player X ceo Tony Pearce. "We look forward to growing our relationship with Calon as opportunities present themselves.â
Contact between Calon (Walesâ largest independent animation company) and Player X was initiated at PACTâs Rights Lab and followed up at the MIP-TV market in Cannes.
âWe are very excited about our development into mobile content and especially this new partnership with Player X,â says Calon md, Robin Lyons. âItâs a brand new market for Calon and so weâre delighted to be linked with such an established and recognized distributor. BIG TATTIE appeals to the cynical humor of todayâs youth culture and so we believe itâs right for the prolific mobile entertainment sector. Backing that up with such high-profile exposure on S4C will also significantly strengthen the brand.â
Calon is already in production of a second animated series for mobile media caller POKER FACE.
