A Calm Disturbia at the Box Office

DISTURBIA held the top spot at the box office for the third consecutive weekend, taking in a tepid $9M for the period ended April 29, 2007, as everyone awaits the onslaught of SPIDER-MAN 3 next weekend. So far DISTURBIA has provided Paramount/DreamWorks a cume of $52.1M (with vfx by Halon and Pacific Title). Debuting in second and third place was Buena Vista's THE INVISIBLE (vfx by Gray Matter FX) and Paramount's NEXT (vfx by Digital Dream, Look Effects and Comen VFX) with $7.7M and $7.1M. Fourth place belonged to New Line's FRACTURE with $6.8M for a two-week tally of $21M. BLADES OF GLORY fell to fifth with $5.1M. The Paramount/DreamWorks ice skating comedy, with vfx from Rainmaker Visual Effects, Digital Dimension, Image Engine, Gentle Giant Studios, Intrigue and Spectrum Effects, now has a cume of $108M. Holding sixth with $4.8M and a cume of $12.6M was HOT FUZZ from Rogue Pictures (with vfx from Double Negative and Framestore CFC). Buena Vista's animated MEET THE ROBINSONS slipped to seventh with $4.8M for a cume of $88.3M. Screen Gems' VACANCY occupied eighth with $4.1M and $13.7M.
