San Diego International Children's Film Festival
San Diego, California, USA
October 21 - 30, 2005
Deadline: August 31, 2005

San Diego International Children's Film Festival will showcase full-length films for children of all ages & teens, shorts for children ages 7 & under, at the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego's historic Balboa Park.

The festival held its first-ever event in April, showing 65 short films from around the world. Actor-director LeVar Burton appeared at the festival, as did several other filmmakers.

The festival also invited San Diego-area students to make field trips to the museum before the festival, to get an early glimpse of the films. Such outreach programs are an integral part of the festival's long-term goals.

The non-profit festival seeks to bring quality films from around the world made for children to San Diego. The idea is to introduce area children to different nationalities and filmmaking techniques, in hope that children will not only gain valuable insight into the perspectives of different cultures, but also a better appreciation of film and its possibilities.

Included in the April festival were short films from the United States, Mexico, Canada, England, Croatia, Iran, South Africa, India, Hong Kong, Kenya, Ecuador, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Estonia, Australia, Argentina and Spain.
