Cachuela Takes Director of Story Post at Vinton

Vinton Studios has named Mike Cachuela director of story for feature films, reports HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. Cachuela has been a longtime collaborator with Vintons stop-motion master Henry Selick. Cachuela was storyboard artist on Wes Anderson's THE LIFE AQUATIC WITH STEVE ZISSOU for which Selick did the stop-motion animation.

"Having someone of Mike's caliber join our feature film division is testimony to our commitment to make Vinton Studios a major producer of full-length animated feature films for the global market," Vinton Studios ceo Jeff Farnath said.

Cachuela will be overseeing the story department on both Selicks short film MOONGIRL and Pandemonium Films and Vinton Studios feature CORALINE, which is based on Neil Gaiman's children's book that will be directed by Selick as well.

"I've been really lucky in my career to have worked with tremendously talented and creative filmmakers like Henry Selick, Tim Burton, John Lasseter and Brad Bird," Cachuela said. "I'm looking forward to continuing my collaboration with Henry Selick and to working with Vinton Studios' extraordinary team of animation artists."
