Zoic Adds Derek Crosby as CG Supervisor for Games

Culver City, CA -- Culver City/Vancouver-based visual effects house Zoic Studios bolstered their Gaming Division with the addition of CG Supervisor Derek Crosby. He comes to Zoic from Digital Domain where his role encompassed a variety of tasks including crafting custom pipeline solutions and solving technical issues in Maya and game engines for a multitude of projects. Crosby boasts over 10 years of experience in the entertainment business, concentrating heavily on character and animation. He has leveraged his exceptional technical prowess and unconventional problem solving skills to constantly innovate custom pipelines for emerging technical innovations.

Heavily involved in early motion capture systems, Crosby began his career as an Ink and Paint Artist at 7th Level in Los Angeles prior to joining Raydon as an Art Director, and Midway Chicago as a Technical Artist. In 2002, he made the migration back to Los Angeles where he spent the next 10 years working for numerous top shops including Luma Pictures, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop, and Spark Unlimited. He has worked on such premier projects as multiple Gears of War trailers, Borderlands2 launch trailer, two trailers for Transformers Fall of Cybertron, Sim City cinematic trailer and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Battlegrounds.
