Walt Disney Enters Wireless Market

Three games from the Walt Disney Internet Group are now available to users of the Sprint PCS Wireless Web including a game based on the current Disney/Pixar blockbuster film Monsters, Inc. and a game based on Disney's animated film Atlantis: The Lost Empire. The third game is ESPN's 2-Minute Drill, which challenges players to answer rapid-fire questions from a variety of sports categories and is based on games of the same name on ESPN television and ESPN.com. While other companies, such as ExtraTainment and Midway Games, have been providing games for PDAs and wireless phones exclusively for entertainment, Disney will be entertaining users and promoting its films and other properties. Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment was the first to use advergaming when they launched a PDA-based game earlier this year to promote their feature film The One.
