Visual Effects Company Zoic Studios Launches
Executive producer Steve Schofield, along with creative directors Chris Jones and Loni Peristere, all formerly of Radium, have formed visual effects company Zoic Studios. The new company, based in Los Angeles, California, will provide visual effects and CG animation for commercials, music videos, feature film and episodic television. The team is currently providing effects for the new Fox show FIREFLY, as well as the popular series BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and ANGEL. Prior to co-founding Zoic, Chris Jones was at Radium from 1999-2002 as senior compositor/creative director of the Los Angeles office. At Radium, a company he joined after working as a digital artist for POP, he was instrumental in the building of its visual effects commercial division. His credits include major TV campaigns for clients such as Volkswagen, Intel, Mitsubishi and Fallons BMW Films. Creative director Loni Peristere came to Zoic from Radium, POP and Digital Magic Company, where he worked with Warner Bros. Television and Columbia/Tri-Star. In addition to his extensive long-form background, he has completed numerous commercials for the industry's top directors including campaigns for Mazda, Jack in the Box and Toyota. Executive producer Steve "The Mayor" Schofield oversees daily operations of Zoic. Prior to forming Zoic, Schofield was executive producer at Radium where he helped build the Santa Monica office into a visual effects powerhouse working with such noted production companies as Anonymous, HSI, @radical media, Villains and Smuggler. Other key talents at Zoic include head of CG Andrew Orloff, head of production Kristen Branan, as well as CG supervisor Emile E. Smith and digital effects supervisor Rocco Passionino. "We have positioned the company to work in different mediums episodic television, feature films, games and commercials and will move further into content as the year progresses," commented Steve Schofield. "With Zoic, we hope to partner with agencies and production companies early in the process to create content for the future."
