Cable network group Starz is looking to sell its production companies that make up Starz Media, which includes animation firms Film Roman and Starz Animation, reports VARIETY. Starz Media also includes Overture Films and Anchor Bay Ent.

On Thursday, Overture CEO Chris McGurk and COO Danny Rosett left the company signaling to many that Starz commitment to the production side is waning further. Insiders say the duo were left out of sale talks even though a management buyout was presented as an option.

The four Starz Media companies could be sold as a whole or as individual parts.

Starz and its parent company Liberty Media want to focus more on their 16 Starz-Encore pay TV channels.
