Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions (SPWA) has acquired the global rights to Detention Films' DETENTION, reports ComingSoon.net. The film follows a group of senior students in detention that must escape from a serial killer attacking their school.

Josh Hutcherson, Dane Cook and Shanley Caswell lead the cast. Joseph Kahn (TORQUE) directed and co-wrote with Mark Palermo. MarryAnn Tanedo and Richard Weager are the producers alongside exec producers Robert Abramoff, Josh Hutcherson, David Kang, Clayton Reaser and Vernon Reaser.
