Rango Ropes Top of the U.S. Box Office

Paramount's RANGO rode into first place at the U.S. box office for the weekend of March 4-6, 2011. With animation from ILM, the Western vision quest grossed $38 million.

Universal's THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU was fated to debut in second. With Big Film Design, Brainstorm Digital, Hirota Paint Industries (HPI), Phosphene, Proof, Realscan 3D, RhinoFX and Wildfire Visual Effects, the sci-fi romance earned $20.9 million.

CBS Films' BEASTLY premiered in third with $10.1 million. Mr. X provided vfx.

New Line's HALL PASS slipped from #1 to #4, bringing in another $9.02 million. The raunchy comedy has a cume of $27 million.

Touchstone Pictures' GNOMEO AND JULIET sang to the tune of $6.91 million in fifth. The Elton John passion project has earned $83.7 million to date.

Warner Bros.' UNKNOWN crashed into sixth with $6.62 million. With vfx from 4DMax and Lip Sync Post, the amnesia thriller has brought in $53.1 million thus far.

Oscar-winner THE KING'S SPEECH moved up one spot to seventh, crowning another $6.5 million. With vfx from LOOK! Effects, Molinare Studio and Pixion, the kingly drama has a cume of $123.8 million.

Columbia's JUST GO WITH IT laughed up an additional $6.5 million. The Adam Sandler comedy has a cume of $88.2 million.

Buena Vista's I AM NUMBER FOUR tumbled from fourth to ninth, grossing $5.7 million. With vfx from Entity FX, Hammerhead Productions, Image Engineering, Industrial Light & Magic, Kerner Optical, Pixel Playground, Shade VFX, The Third Floor and XYZ-RGB, the teen sci-fi romance has amassed $46.4 million thus far.

Paramount's JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER closed out the top ten, adding $4.32 million to its $68.9 million cume.
