According to an article in the Los Angeles Times, the studio is moving ahead with plans to find a new writer and director after several years and several attached writers.  The famous Terrytoon cartoon came to TV in the 1950s and was popular with more than one generation of kids.   The recent success of Alvin & the Chipmunks has breathed life into the notion that a classic animated property can generate big dollars on the big screen.  The broad appeal of the animated Mighty Mouse cartoons doesn’t necessarily jive with the satirical nature of the original comics, originally positioned in the 1940s as a subversive take on the wildly popular Superman.

Many can remember the late comedian Andy Kaufman’s zany sing-along to the catchy Mighty Mouse theme song in a sketch he performed in 1980 on Saturday Night Live.
