Laika Lays Off 63 in CG Department

Laika has laid off 63 employees in its CG department. This follows Laika letting go 65 CG artists in December when it shut down development of the CG feature, JACK AND BEN'S ANIMATED ADVENTURE. For the time being, the studio behind CORALINE will focus of stop-motion features, using CG to support those films.

Additionally, Laika/House, the commercial branch of the company, will continue to utilize all styles of animation. The production house isn't completely abandoning CG and will continue to develop CG projects when promising ones surface. The company plans to announce its next stop-motion film in the next few weeks.
