Walt Disney Pictures has shortened the title of Andrew Stanton's JOHN CARTER OF MARS to JOHN CARTER, reports ComingSoon.net. Based on Edgar Rice Burrough's science fiction series, Taylor Kitsch plays the Civil War veteran John Carter who is teleported to the planet Barsoom where he gets caught up in a civil war.

The cast also includes Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Daryl Sabara, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Hayden Church and Willem Dafoe. Disney will release the film on March 9, 2012.
