Iron Man 2 Makes Robin Hood Un-Merry

IRON MAN 2 is still the top hero of the U.S. box office, reclaiming the #1 spot for the weekend of May 14-16, 2010. The superhero spectacle earned ad additional $53 million in its second week. With visual effects from Industrial Light & Magic, Double Negative, Hydraulx, Centroid Motion Capture, The Embassy Visual Effects, Evil Eye Pictures, Fuel International, Legacy Effects, Lola Visual Effects, Pixel Liberation Front, Pixomondo, Prologue Films, Svengali Visual Effects, The Third Floor and Trixter Film, the Marvel adaptation has made a total of $212.2 million.

In its debut weekend, Universal's ROBIN HOOD (with vfx from The Moving Picture Company (MPC), Lola Visual Effects, Centroid Motion Capture, FB-FX, Hammerhead Productions and Plowman Craven & Associates) arrowed $37.1 million.

Two debut romances took the third and fourth slots. First was Summit Ent.'s LETTERS TO JULIET with $13.8 million followed by Fox Searchlight's JUST WRIGHT with $8.5 million.

DreamWorks' HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON fell to fifth gaining another $5.12 million, lifting its cume to $207.8 million.

Plummeting from #2 to #6, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (vfx from Method Studios) could only scare up $4.7 million, making its total box office body count $56.1 million.

Fox's DATE NIGHT settled in at #7 with $4 million and a cume of $86.7 million. CBS Films' THE BACK-UP PLAN found itself in eighth place with $2.47 million and a cume of $34.2 million.

With vfx from Furious FX and RotoFactory, FURRY VENGEANCE raged into ninth with $2.3 million, making its cume $15.1 million.

Rounding out the top ten, CLASH OF THE TITANS earned another $1.26 million. With vfx by Framestore, The Moving Picture Company, Cinesite, CEG Media, Flash Film Works, Neil Corbould Special Effects, Nvizible, and Prime Focus View-D, the Greek epic has made $160.2 million thus far.
