Humongous Entertainment, a leading publisher of children's entertainment products, announced a donation of US$228,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the largest wish-granting organization in the world. The donation was the result of a specially created holiday promotion appearing on 16 of Humongous Entertainment's popular children's CD-Roms. With more than 105,000 holiday consumers participating, this promotion became the largest rebate program in the company's history. The funds received by the program will support the Make-A-Wish Foundation in its efforts to grant wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. "The outpouring of support by the fans of Humongous Entertainment is very touching and will go a long way in making dreams come true for many kids," said Paula Van Ness, president and CEO, Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. "We strive to offer programs that not only give our customers a great value, but also the opportunity to support a good cause," said Mike Salvadore, director of marketing and business development, Humongous Entertainment. "The overwhelming results of the Make-A-Wish holiday promotion proves that our consumers are extremely responsive to such a promotion and appreciate this option." Consumers participating in the holiday rebate program received $10 off the purchase of certain Humongous Entertainment titles and then chose from two options: donate the full $10 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or donate $2 to the charity and receive $8 back. The promotion ran from November through December 1999. The rebate deal was featured on such titles as BACKYARD FOOTBALL, BACKYARD BASEBALL, BLUE'S TREASURE HUNT, FREDDI FISH 4: THE CASE OF THE HOGFISH RUSTLERS OF BRINY GULCH, PUTT-PUTT ENTERS THE RACE, PAJAMA SAM 2: THUNDER AND LIGHTNING AREN'T SO FRIGHTENING and SPY FOX 2: SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED.
