On the heels of yesterday’s announcement about Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm, and the news that Star Wars fans can anticipate a new film in 2015, StarWars.com has released a short video in which George Lucas and Lucasfilm’s co-chairman Kathleen Kennedy discuss the future of the celebrated franchise and explain some of the logic behind the sale to Disney:

With the hint that the next Star Wars trilogy is in development with Episodes 7, 8 and 9, this news appears to be a first huge step towards continuing the beloved sci-fi space opera series.
