Walt Disney has made some changes to its upcoming animation release slate, reports VARIETY. Both the 3-D version of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and Gary Rydstrom's NEWT have been removed from the schedule completely. BEAUTY will eventually get a theatrical release, but Disney decided it was unwise to cram it into theaters in 2011. NEWT has been outright cancelled, but Disney distribution head Chuck Viane did allude to the possibility that NEWT might resurface later.

MONSTERS, INC. 2 has been pushed up two weeks to Nov. 2, 2012, which marks the 11-year anniversary of the original film's release.

For this year, Disney still has TANGLED hitting theaters on Nov. 24. In 2011, Pixar's CARS 2 races in on June 24 and Disney's hand-drawn WINNIE THE POOH comes July 15.
