DECODE's Kid Vs Kat Notches Up Latin Sales
Press Release from DECODE Enterprises
Toronto, 10 August 2010. DECODE Enterprises, the distribution division of DHX Media, has scored two major terrestrial deals for Kid vs Kat in Latin America with TV Azteca in Mexico and ECTV in Ecuador. The two have scooped up all 26x22’ episodes of Season 1.
The sales come hot on the heels of a second season commission of 26x22’ episodes of the series from Disney XD US, Disney XD Europe, and YTV in Canada. In addition, DHX producer Studio B Productions is producing 13x2’ digital shorts based on the action-packed 2D animated series.
Josh Scherba, SVP Distribution of DHX Media said: “Our shows have a significant presence in Latin America, and we’re keen to do more business in the region. Kid vs Kat is building a strong fan base, and the commitment from Disney XD and YTV to a second season gives us a solid foundation for further international deals.”
Created by Rob Boutilier, Kid vs Kat won the 2009 Leo Award for Best Animated Programme and airs in over 100 territories. International sales are handled by DHX Media’s distribution division DECODE Enterprises which has sold the show to a number of additional broadcasters including VRAK Canada, ABC Australia, Disney Latin America, Cartoon Network Korea, Disney India, Disney Japan and Nick SE Asia.
With felines like this, who needs enemies? When 10-year old Coop’s spoilt little sister Millie brings home a mysterious stray cat his idyllic life is turned upside-down. It turns out that this is no cat at all, but rather a malevolent space alien who just happens to look like a cat. What's more, this evil invader now blames Coop for stranding him here on Earth and is determined to destroy him! Unfortunately neither his dad, the kids in the neighbourhood, or the nasty old busybody next door, believes Coop when the inevitable chaos ensues.
It's up to Coop and his best friend Dennis to find some evidence that will show the town what this "cat" really is, and to put a stop to all of its ingeniously evil schemes. Will Coop survive long enough to make it to high school?
