DEAR JOHN has the enviable position of outshining AVATAR after James Cameron's film dominated for seven consecutive weeks.

DEAR JOHN earned $32.4 million in its first week while AVATAR grabbed the #2 spot and $23.6 million over the weekend, Feb. 5-7.

FROM PARIS WITH LOVE brought in $8.1 million and the #3 spot for Lionsgate. EDGE OF DARKNESS claimed the #4 spot with $7 million for Warner Bros. during its first week.

THE TOOTH FAIRY grabbed the #5 spot and almost $6.5 million for Fox. WHEN IN ROME earned $5.5 million and the #6 spot for Buena Vista.

THE BOOK OF ELI came in at #7 with $4.8 million for Warner Bros. CRAZY HEART earned $3.7 million and the #8 spot.

LEGION brought in $3.4 million and the #9 spot while SHERLOCK HOLMES rounded out the top ten with $2.6 million for Warner Bros.
