Breaking Dawn Takes Box Office for Third Week

Summit's THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN — PART 1 continued as the U.S. box office champion for the third week in a row. With vfx from Comen VFX, Halon Entertainment, Legacy Effects, Lola Visual Effects, Method Studios, Modus Fx, Pixel Magic, Soho VFX, Spin VFX, Tippett Studio and Wildfire Visual Effects, the supernatural romance added $16.5 million to its $246.9 million cume.

Disney's THE MUPPETS stayed strong in second with $11.1 million. With vfx from Legacy Effects and Shade VFX, the Jason Segel comedy has amassed $56.4 million to date.

Paramount's HUGO rose from fifth to third, earning $7.56 million. With vfx from Plowman Craven & Associates, Lola Visual Effects, Mark Roberts Motion Control, Matte World Digital, Nvizage, Pixomondo and With A Twist Studio, the Martin Scorsese 3-D family film has a cume of $25.1 million.

Sony and Aardman's ARTHUR CHRISTMAS held onto the fourth spot, bringing in $7.4 million. The CG animated feature has brought in $25.3 million thus far.

Warner Bros.' HAPPY FEET TWO plummeted from third to fifth with $5.92 million. The Dr. D Studios production has a cume of $51.7 million.

Sony's JACK AND JILL returned to the sixth place with $5.36 million. With vfx from Atomic Fiction, Method Studios, Pixel Liberation Front and Wildfire Visual Effects, the Adam Sandler comedy has earned $64.2 million to date.

Fox Searchlight's THE DESCENDANTS rose from ninth to seventh, lifting another $4.79 million. The dramedy has a cume of $17.7 million.

Relativity's IMMORTALS stormed into eighth place with $4.46 million. With vfx from ReThink VFX, ScanlineVFX, 3DRevolution, BarXseven, Christov Effects and Design, Comen VFX, Image Engine Design, Modus Fx, NeoReel, Proof, Rodeo FX, The Third Floor, Tippett Studio and XYZ-RGB, the Greek mythical epic has box office receipts totaling $75.7 million.

Universal's TOWER HEIST moved back up a slot to ninth, collecting an additional $3.95 million. With vfx from Gravity, Phosphene, Method Studios and Stella VFX, the crime comedy has a cume of $70.6 million.

DreamWorks Animation's PUSS IN BOOTS closed out the top ten, earning $3.04 million. The animated hit has a cume of $139.5 million.
