Sequel Taken 2, starring Liam Neeson, dominated the North American box office again this weekend, earning $22.5 million for a domestic total of $86.8 million. The action feature from 20th Century Fox and EuropaCorp is an unqualified hit, bringing in $132.8 million internationally for a worldwide total of $219.6 million.

Ben Affleck’s period political thriller Argo, from Warner Bros., opened to $20.1 million to easily take the number two spot.

Summit Entertainment's pre-Halloween feature Sinister came in third, taking in $18.3 million. The R-rated horror film, starring Ethan Hawke as a true-crime writer whose family is plunged into danger after he finds a box of gruesome home movies, cost under $3 million to make.

Sony's animated hit Hotel Transylvania showed no signs of slowing down in its third weekend at the box office as it jumped the $100 million mark, grossing $17.3 million to come in at number four. The film's domestic total is $102.2 million; internationally it has grossed $49.3 million.

Sony family comedy Here Comes the Boom, starring Kevin James, came in fifth, taking in $12 million for its debut.

Universal musical comedy Pitch Perfect placed number six on its third weekend out, earning $9.3 million for a total of $36.1 million.

Tim Burton’s 3D black-and-white, stop-motion-animated Frankenweenie came in seventh place this weekend, taking in $7 million for a total of $22 million.

Looper, released by Sony's TriStar label in tandem with FilmDistrict and Endgame Entertainment, came in eighth place on its third weekend out, earning $6.3 million for a total of $51.4 million.

CBS Films' dark comedy Seven Psychopaths, starring Colin Farrell, Sam Rockwell, Woody Harrelson, Christopher Walken and Abbie Cornish, debuted at ninth place with $4.3 million.

Rounding out the list at number 10, Summit Entertainment's The Perks of Being a Wallflower brought in $2.2 million on its fourth weekend out for a total of $6.2 million.
