On its second weekend out, DreamWorks Animation’s Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted held on to the top spot at the box office, bringing in $35.5 million for a domestic 10-day total of $120.5 million. The animated feature also claimed the top spot at the overseas box office for the second weekend in a row, adding $53 million for a new total of $157 million.

Ridley Scott's sci-fi epic Prometheus remained in second place this weekend, earning $20.2 million for a total of $88.9 million in its 10 days out. Overseas, Prometheus continued to perform well with audiences, bringing in $25.2 million for a total of $128.6 million.

1980s jukebox musical Rock of Ages came in third place at the box office, earning $15 million with its debut, the sixth-highest opening ever for a musical.

Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman placed number four in its third weekend out, earning $13.8 million for a total of $122.6 million. The VFX-heavy feature also continued to do well internationally, earning $31.2 million from 57 territories, and has now grossed $124.6 million from overseas markets.

In fifth place, Adam Sandler's R-rated That's My Boy brought in $13 million on its first weekend out, marking the film Sandler's lowest debut for a comedy since 2004’s Spanglish.

At number six, Sony's Men in Black 3 continued its hold in its fourth weekend out, earning $10 million for a domestic total of $152.7 million. Overseas, the film brought in another $19.7 million, bringing its foreign total to $391.6 million.

Disney and Marvel’s The Avengers continued to do well on the box office chart, placing number seven this weekend with $8.9 million for a domestic total of $586.7 million. Overseas, the super hero feature brought in an additional $3.9 million for a worldwide total of $833.1 million.

Fox Searchlight’s The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel came in eighth place on its seventh weekend in release, earning $2.2 million for a total of $35.1 million.

At number nine, Wes Anderson's Moonrise Kingdom brought in $2.2 million on its fourth week out for a total of $6.8 million.

Rounding out the list at number 10, Lionsgate’s ensemble comedy What to Expect When You're Expecting brought in $1.3 million on its fifth week out for a total of $38.8 million.
