AVATAR earned a staggering $77 million in its first weekend for Fox, handling beat THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG from Buena Vista which grossed $12.2 million in its fourth week in theaters, Dec. 18-20. THE BLIND SIDE from Warner Bros. earned $10 million and the #3 spot over its fifth week in theaters.

DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE MORGANS? raked in $6.6 million and the #4 spot for Sony in its first week. THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON came in fifth, earning $4.4 million for Summit Entertainment. INVICTUS earned $4.2 million and the sixth spot for Warner Bros.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL raked in nearly $3.4 million for Buena Vista and the #7 spot. UP IN THE AIR from Paramount raked in $3.2 million and the #8 spot in its third week. BROTHERS from Lionsgate came in #9, earning $2.9 million. OLD DOGS from Buena Vista rounded out the top 10, raking in $2.3 million.
