ATTACK THE BLOCK, which has already established some cult cred after playing at SXSW, has received a U.S. release date from Screen Gems, reports ComingSoon.net. The film will arrive in select cities on July 29 and expand in the weeks following.

Joe Cornish directed the sci-fi comedy, which follows a group of project kids defending the neighborhood from invading aliens. SHAUN OF THE DEAD helmer Edgar Wright produced the film, which stars SHAUN star Nick Frost.
