Alice Throws Party at the Box Office

ALICE IN WONDERLAND broke numerous records on its opening weekend, March 5-7, earning $116.3 million for Disney. BROOKLYN'S FINEST came in a distant second with $13.5 million for Overture and SHUTTER ISLAND fell to the #3 spot, bringing in $13.3 million for Paramount. COP OUT fell to the #4 spot and racked up $9.1 million for Warner Bros.

AVATAR fell to the #5 spot in its 12th week with $7.7 million for Fox. THE CRAZIES grabbed the sixth place spot and $7 million for Overture. PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THIEF earned $5.1 million and the #7 spot for Fox.

VALENTINE'S DAY came in eighth place for its fourth week, earning $4.3 million for Warner Bros. CRAZY HEART surged 36 percent over its 12th week, earning $3.4 million and the #9 spot for Fox.

DEAR JOHN rounded out the top ten with $2.9 million.
