Brush Head Takes Toon BAFTA

The 2004 British Academy Children's Film and Television Awards, presented in association with the LEGO Co., announced its winners on Nov. 28, 2004. BRUSH HEAD from Toon Disney/Dandy Productions/Disney Channel UK took home the Best Animation prize. The other nominees include: THE BLUE DRAGON from Lambros Atteshlis, Malcolm Hartley, Fiona Shore, Glasshead Ltd/C4; GRIZZLY TALES FOR GRUESOME KIDS from Honeycomb Animation/Elephant Prods./Carlton/CiTV; and METALHEADS from Denise Green, Chris Hermans, Ben Townsend and TV Loonland/BBC.

In the Feature Film category, HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN upset heavyweights LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING, FINDING NEMO and SHREK 2.

The KING ARTHUR CD-ROM from Film Education/BVI was awarded the Interactive prize. The other nods went to LIFE STUFF WEBSITE from Paul Argent of Milo Creative/C4; NELLY NUT LIVE! (INTERACTIVE TV) from Tim Lowe of CBBC/CBBC; and NEWSROUND WEBSITE from Katie Hamilton, Paul Whelan, Clare Youell of CBBC/CBBC Online

The Pre-School Animation award went to YOKO! JAKAMOKO! TOTO! by Collingwood O'Hare Ent./CiTV. Nominees in this category included: THE KOALA BROTHERS by Spellbound Ent./Famous Flying Films/BBC; PEPPA PIG by Astley Baker Davies/Contender Entertainment/Five; and SAM TAN (FIREMAN SAM) by Siriol Prods./S4C.

Tony Collingwood received a repeat award for YOKO! JAKAMOKO! TOTO! in the original writing category. Jamie Rix was also nominated in the category for GRIZZLY TALES FOR GRUESOME KIDS.

Along with LEGO, BAFTA allowed kids to vote for their favorite film, which was SHREK 2. The nine other films on the top 10 list were ELF, FINDING NEMO, HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN, THE HAUNTED MANSION, THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RETURN OF THE KING, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL, SCHOOL OF ROCK, SCOOBY - DOO 2: MONSTERS UNLEASHED and SPIDER-MAN 2.
