For Scott and 20th Century Fox, they are adapting Paulette Jiles' THE COLOR OF LIGHTNING. The story follows a freed slave and his family as they move to Texas to start a new life. Attacked by Comanche and Kiowa, his son is killed and wife and two other children kidnapped, after which he plots his revenge.
For Cooper and Warner Bros., they are adapting S. C. Gwynne's EMPIRE OF THE SUMMER MOON. The story takes a positive look at Quanah, the Comanche leader who fought the expansion into West for 20 years. His battle resulted in the founding of the Texas Rangers.
Scott Free Prods. is producing both productions.
