Brazilian Shorts Series Premieres on Cartoon Network Latin America

PIXCODELICS, a new series of shorts premiered on Cartoon Network Latin America Aug. 13, 2005, at 12:00 pm. PIXCODELICS, consisting of 65 five-minute interstitials, was produced with MoP Brasil Digital, a 3D animation studio in San Paulo (www.mopdigital.com.br) and features a group of kids fighting to keep the Internet out of the clutches of a web tycoon.

Evil Dr. Ping plans to use his psychic-tech superpowers to dominate the Internet and eventually the world. Unfortunately for Dr. Ping, a group of kids called the Pixcodelics will use their high-tech devices, special tricks and unique powers to stop him. The team is comprised of Pix, a creative, intelligent kid with a lot of positive energy and leader of the group; Nerd, a young inventor who practically breathes, eats and drinks technology; Mary Chat, a hip, social and charming girl who is always ready to face any challenge; and the athletic Hack, who only uses his strength when necessary.

Dr. Ping, an egocentric scientist from the future is assisted by Katslock, an evil cat who travels back in time with his boss with domination plans of his own.

PIXCODELICS creators, Marco Alemar and Caio Mário Paes de Andrade, were inspired by emoticons, the iconography popular among web users to communicate online, to design the characters that are formed by letters, numbers and symbols. Making a cartoon series for television is any producers dream, said Paes de Andrade. Licensing this series to Cartoon Network goes beyond realizing this dream. Having Cartoon Networks stamp of approval recognizes the quality of our product and will open many doors for PIXCODELICS.

We are pleased to have PIXCODELICS on Cartoon Network, which complements the channels programming with its humor and unique visual look, explains Cindy Kerr, vp of programming and acquisitions for Cartoon Network Latin America. With initiatives like these, Cartoon Network continues to reinforce its support for productions coming out of Latin America, she added.

PIXCODELICS is Cartoon Networks newest local initiative produced in part with funding from the Brazilian government, under the direction of Turner Broadcasting Latin America Inc.
